****4 out of 5 stars****

A unique treat, Hu Hot is a must stop when shopping downtown Fort Collins. An interesting and simple concent, Hu Hot is a create it yourself Mongolian Grill. Allow me explain:

Hu Hut is an Asian theme restaurant in nature, but will satisfy almost any pallate. When you walk in, you can't help but to afix your eyes on the large, cirlcular grill. And you will most certainly not miss the smells wafting from it.

You are seated, asked for your option of soup or salad, and then told to go and make your creation. You start with a shallow bowl, and fill it with any of their buffet of goodies. You start out with meats and noodles. They have all kinds of meats: pork, chicken, beef, calamari, shrimp, immitation crab, salmon and tilapi. They had several kinds of noodles, and you just pile in what you want. Then comes the veggie buffet. Here you can add all kinds of stuff including: pea pods, tofu, brocolli, cabbage, carrots, etc. You get the idea - fill it with what you like.

The next station is the most interesting. It's their extensive sauce bar. Here you scoop in 6 or 7 laddels of sauce into your bowl. They have many "house" sauces that range in spiciness and variety (think Curry, Thai, or Kung Pao). Then they have other options like soy sauce, lemon juice, seame seed oil, etc.

From here, you take your new creation to the grill, and watch while they cook it up on the large round grill in front of you. It takes maybe 5 minutes at the most for the food to cook and be plated, but it comes off the grill piping hot and ready to eat. Rice will be at the table for your return.

For those who would prefer a recipe to follow, they offer tons of suggestions on little cards that have all of the meats, veggies, and sauces listed in order. The wait staff is very friendly, and there to help at any insanity. They also have dessert. Take the crab cheese wontons home - we did and they are worth it!
